Bernard Fischbach [bfischbach@fpllaw.com] Bernard Fischbach, one of the founding Members of Fischbach, Perlstein, Lieberman & Almond, has been engaged in the practice of law since 1970. Mr. Fischbach’s practice concentrates on the representation of clients in the recording and music publishing business and video and computer game development and publishing business. Mr. Fischbach handles both the representation of companies and entertainers. As part of Mr. Fischbach’s representation of his clients he has been engaged to both purchase and sell entertainment companies, transactions involving the development and distribution of computer software and copyrights pertaining thereto, the licensing of and merchandising of various entertainment properties, acquisition and licensing of master recordings and copyrights pertaining thereto. Mr. Fischbach has been involved in the recording and interactive entertainment industry since 1976. Prior to entering private practice in 1971, Mr. Fischbach spent four years as a Field Attorney with the National Labor Relations Board where he tried cases under the Taft Hartley Act before the National Labor Relations Board and the Federal District courts and United States Courts of Appeal. Mr. Fischbach received his B.A. from The University of California at Berkeley and his J.D. from Hastings College of the Law. Mr. Fischbach

Michael Perlstein [mperlstein@fpllaw.com] Michael Perlstein has practiced law for over thirty-five years, with the emphasis of his practice in music publishing, recording industry and copyright matters. He represents leading artists, writers and music publishers. Mr. Perlstein practiced law in New York City for seventeen years both as general counsel of a music publishing and record company and in private practice before moving to Los Angeles in 1985, to continue in private practice. He is the author of the following articles: In Re Marriage of Worth-Copyright as Community Property: Questions about Worth are More Than Merely Trivial, published in the April 1988, Entertainment Law Reporter; Contracts with Kids: A Limited Discussion of Entertainment Industry Contracts Involving Minors Under California Law published in the 1992-93 Entertainment Publishing and the Arts Handbook; the chapter entitled Music Publishing in Entertainment Law, Editions 1, 2 and 3, published by the New York State Bar Association (1989, 1996 and 2004); A Cue Sheet Primer published in the March 2000 edition of The Score, the Journal of the Society of Composers and Lyricists; and Some Aspects of United States Music Publishing Agreements: The Exclusive Term Copublishing Agreement and the Minimum Delivery Commitment, published in the January, 2001 Journal of the International Association of Entertainment Lawyers. He is an Adjunct Associate Professor of Law at Southwestern University Law School in Los Angeles creating the casebook and teaching the course on music publishing. He is a frequent lecturer and panelist on music industry topics. Mr. Perlstein holds an LLB degree from the University of California School of Law at Berkeley (Boalt Hall). He is a member of the Los Angeles Copyright Society, the International Association of Entertainment Lawyers, the California Copyright Conference and the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. He is a member
of the Bar in California, New York and Illinois. Robert Lieberman [rlieberman@fpllaw.com] Robert Lieberman has been with the firm since 1990. Robert graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1974 and from the University of Southern California, School of Law in 1977. The principal areas of his practice are financing and distribution of recorded music; licensing and merchandising of trademarks and entertainment properties; and music publishing. Among his numerous clients, he acts as legal counsel to Body By Jake Global, Higher Octave Music, Visionary Intellectual Properties, Major League Lacrosse, New City Releasing, Warren G and Mack 10, as well as other record companies, recording artists and music publishers. In his representation
of Virgin Records America, Mr. Lieberman has negotiated recording agreements
for artists such as Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey. Paul S. Almond [psa5@earthlink.net] Paul Almond joined Fischbach, Perlstein, Lieberman & Almond in 2005. He has concentrated primarily in the motion picture and television industry. Among his clients are Amnesty International Media; RoseArts; Sobini Films; Axium International: Desert Mountain Distributing; Ambient Digital Media; Fabrication Films; as well as individual producers, writers, novelists, and talent. Prior to joining the firm, Paul Almond ran production for Live Entertainment; was head of acquisitions and co –productions and co-financing for ITC; and was head of business and legal affairs for New World Pictures Entertainment. He holds a B.S.
(with honors) and a J.D. both from U.C.L.A.; he is a member of the State
Bar, the Motion Picture Academy, and the Groucho Club. He has lectured
at UCLA, USC, AFI, and has taught the advanced producers seminar at
the AFI.
